This project is a extension of the Butterfly Cove Inn. It covers the door signage: eight room signs based on butterfly species, plus a decorative poster for the lobby. Final deliverables included 8 colored PNGs, an 18x24 poster PNG, and two placement mockups.

phase 1:
research
starting point:
The client wanted a Monarch and a blue butterfly represented. I found the Blue Morpho quickly, then researched species until I landed on eight with distinct shapes and colors: Monarch, Blue Morpho, Malachite, Swallowtail, Admiral, Crimson Rose, Apollo, and Glasswing.
phase 2:
signage:
Each room sign kept the logo's ovular shape and Blithe Regular typeface. Early sketches were too minimal to tell species apart, so I customized stock vector butterflies in Illustrator, adjusting perspective and detail until each one read clearly against a cream, painted-wood background.
designing
poster:
My first draft of the poster pulls from Pinterest and Urban Outfitters print references: a pink rectangle over cream, abstract lines, and butterflies arranged to look like they're fluttering around branches. Beloved Sans handles the labels, with a grainy texture for warmth.
phase 3:
editing & refining
final pass
After critique and client feedback, I refined the kerning on the door signs and simplified the poster's texture. The brand logo changed later on, but Blithe Regular still fit the room signs, so I kept it as the final script and published it with the client's permission.
